Outdoor Courts at the Y – Project Update, June, 2017

We continue to make steady progress in our goal of raising $350,000 to support the building of the Outdoor Courts at the Y. With a total of $232,019 raised to date, we have reached 66% of needed funding. What an accomplishment! A HUGH THANK YOU to all who have helped make this possible.

We just received notice that we did not receive the grant from the MN DNR that we applied for earlier this year. In checking with DNR representatives regarding our grant outcome, they were very complimentary of our project but indicated that there were others that were a closer fit to their funding guidelines. Only 1 in 4 grant applications were approved.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Our ODC at the Y Implementation Committee met the same day the news from the MN DNR was received. Without question, the committee is as determined as ever to continue to move forward and do whatever it takes to bring the project to fruition.

There are many moving parts associated with project funding that continue to evolve. We are hopeful that many of these will soon result in additional financial commitments. Although it probably is a long shot, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the project could still be completed this summer/early fall.

WHAT CAN I DO?

This is without question, the most viable component of how best to reach our funding goal ASAP. We are currently around $118,000 short in financial pledges and/or contributions. If we could raise half of that via GRABA and ICPA members, this project will happen much sooner than later. All we need is 120 pledges of $5/week for two years and we will have an additional $60,000. This can be arranged simply by contacting any of the individuals below and they will be happy to forward to you the ODC at the Y Pledge Form or any other project information. Please remember that all contributions are tax deductible and can be paid over a two year period. PLUS your name will appear on a donor plaque once the courts are completed.
